Conservation/Ecology
The San Antonio community is working to promote tourism, to share the natural beauty and relaxed lifestyle of the area with visitors while providing an ecologically sustainable source of income for our families. Since almost everyone here is a farmer, we do not have full-time work in conservation, but we do offer a mixed placement of farming and cultural experiences that include forest path creation for tourism, and tree planting and maintenance on our 160 acre organic farm. This experience together with placements with other farming families provides a great insight into how the rural people of Intag view the natural world and react to environmental issues such as deforestation and copper mining. We don't make a separation between farming and conservation - we think that the production of food is a priveleged activity, that has to respect the natural world in order to be sustainable and successful. To apply for this position, we recommend that you use our trusted partner, the omprakash foundation, where we are listed under cloudforest community service projects.
